I look forward to these flowers opening every year. They look like giant thistle flowers and are in the same family as thistles and globe artichokes. This is more or less the size of the flower.. Usually, I need to climb a step-ladder to reach them, but the stem of this flower had bent and I was able to take a shot of it easily :)
